Piano Works

- A rather unusual selection from Brahms's great pianistic legacy: the Scherzo, Op. 4 is the first or his compositions that he published and the Four Piano Pieces, Op. 119 are the very last works the composer wrote for solo piano.

- As opposed to our first two recordings with lvo Janssen for Globe, this time we did not record his performances in front of a small selected audience, but made the recording in the studio right after a series of highly succesful concert performances of these works by Ivo Janssen, including concerts in the famous Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

- lvo Janssen plays this program on an extremely beautiful sounding Steinway grand piano.

With his two previous Globe CDs and his many concert appearances all over the world, lvo Janssen is now quickly establishing himself internationally as one of the major pianists of his generation. He is a pupil of Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory and also studied with György Szebök and Andnej Jansinski. lvo Janssen won already a great many prestigious awards for his playing. About his recording with Prokofiev plano works (GLO 5015) the American Record Guide reported: "If we're going to have only one recording for years to come, we can be grateful it's by lvo Janssen".
