- After the initial success of our first CD with Jacques Ogg in a program of German Harpsichord Music before Bach (GLO 5047), we now present this extremely gifted musician in an equally interesting program of harpsichord works by two of the greatest French composers of the 17th century.

- As always, we used instruments that fully represent the original sound for the performances; this time they were copies by the famous Amsterdam harpsichord maker Joop Klinkhamer after 17th century French and Flemish harpsichords.

- In the 16 page booklet an introduction to the composers, the works and the performance style and also an article by harpsichord builder Klinkhamer about the instruments used for these recordings.

- A first reaction on Jacques Ogg and his performances of German Harpsichord Music before Bach came in an enthusiastic review in Luister, the leading Dutch music magazine, where Ogg's interpretations, phrasings and articulations were said to be of the same high quality and standards of Gustav Leonhardt; according to this review the instruments were also flawlessly recorded ...

Jacques Ogg was born in Maastricht and studied harpsichord at the Conservatory in his city of birth with Anneke Uittenbosch. In 1970 he went to study with Gustav Leonhardt at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1974. Not only as harpsichordist but also as fortepiano player, he appeared all over Europe and in North and South America as well as Japan. He is the regular accompanist of  eminent musicians such as Wilbert Hazelzet, Anner Bijlsma, Max van Egmond, Ricardo Kanji and Alda Stuurop and member of several leading baroque ensembles like Concerto Paletino, Quartetto Amsterdam and Quintetto Domenico. Jacques Ogg is professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the Academy for Ancient Music in Amsterdam. He also regularly gives master classes in Cambridge, Granada, Madrid (EI Escorial), Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo.
