The Trios for Fortepiano, Flute and Violoncello

- Most of Haydn's Keyboard Trios are for Harpsichord (or Fortepiano), Violin and Cello, but in 1790 Haydn wrote three trio's in which he replaced the violin by a flauto traverso. The keyboard part was emphatically written for Fortepiano, and in this recording a beautifully restored instrument from the same year has been used to achieve performances as authentic as possible.

Jacques Ogg was born in Maastricht and studied harpsichord at the Conservatory in his city of birth with Anneke Uittenbosch. In 1970 he went to study with Gustav Leonhardt at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1974. Not only as harpsichordist but also as forte piano player, he appeared all over Europe and in North and South America as well as Japan. He is the regular accompanist of eminent musicians such as Wilbert Hazelzet, Anner Bijlsma, Max van Egmond, Ricardo Kanji and Alda Stuurop and member of several leading baroque ensembles like Les Élements Amsterdam, Concerto Paletino, Quartetto Amsterdam and Quintetto Domenico. Jacques Ogg is professor at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the Academy for Ancient Music in Amsterdam. He also regularly gives master classes in Cambridge, Granada, Madrid (EI Escorial), Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo.
 

Wilbert Hazelzet is not only considered to be one of the leading baroque flute players, but also as an authority In the field of the baroque flute. As soloist he forms a permanent duo with Jacques Ogg, harpsichord and fortepiano, and with Konrad Junghanel, lute. He is the first flautist of Ton Koopman's Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, has made recordings for numerous radio and television stalions all over the world and for several recording companies such as DGG, Erato and Harmonia Mundi. He has appeared in Japan, India, China, the USA, Canada, and all over Europe, from Finland to Portugal and from Eire to Russia.

Christiaan Norde studied the cello with Carel van Leeuwen Boomkamp in Amsterdam, and is a member of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, and of the Philidor Trio.
