Uwe Gronostay has been its artistic director and printipal conductor since 1988 and it was through his personal friendship with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau that this great artist agreed to feature as the soloist in these performances.

- Josef Rheinberger's Missa in Eb Major, Op. 109, also known as the Cantus Missae, for 8-part unaccomponied chorus, is one of the major church compositions from the second half of the 19tlh century. Like Liszt in his Iater works, Rheinberger was one of the great innovators of church music, and this work forms a suitable addition to the mainly religious Liszt works recorded here.

The Netherlands Chamber Choir (Nederlands Kamerkoor) is a fully professional vocal ensemble consisting of 24 singers, and was founded in 1937 by Felix de Nobel. Although it applies itself nowadays first of all to the repertory for either a cappella chorus or works with accompaniment by single instruments, it also collaborates regurlarly with renowned orchestras such as the Schönberg Ensemble, The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. The repertory of the Netherlands Chamber Choir spans almost the whole of Western music, ranging from the early Middle Ages to the late 20th century. Uwe Gronostay has been its artistic leader and chief conductor since 1988. ln its anniversary season 1987-88, the Choir performed in Canada, Italy and Japan, in 1988-89 it toured 14 European clUes (from Moscow to Lisbon) with the Orchestra of the 18th Century, and in 1989-90 the Choir went on an extended tour of Germany (Berliner Festwochen and Frankfurter Feste der Alten Oper Frankfurt among them) and Switzerland, and also visited Israel for the third time. Concert tours of Finland, Germany, Italy, the United States and a Mozart tour with the Orchestra of the 18th Century are in preparation for the coming season.
