World premieres on CD of a series of fabulous sonatas for flute, fortepiano and cello by the nowadays totally unknown German composer Jakob Friedrich Kleinknecht. But, as the New Grove states: "His music, which is fluent and often original, warrants more attention and study than it has received", and that is exactly what we have done with Wilbert Hazelzet, one of today's leading flautists. Kleinknecht, a composer between the baroque and classic periods was a highly respected musician in his time, his works were published in London and Paris during his lifetime and these Chamber Sonatas are nothing less than a revelation.
