In 1661, Charles II was crowned king of England after the period of Cromwell's Puritan rule. Musical life started to flourish again and during this Restoration period the great composers of the day came back to court, Purcell, Blow, Locke and Draghi among them. They wrote for the theater, the King's orchestra and also for the harpsichord. For this CD Richard Egarr made a choice of their best and most representative keyboard works and with his authoriative interpretations made it into a fascinating musical document
