Opera 4 Hands Vol 2

This is the sequel to GLO 5143, our highly successful first CD with late 19th and early 20th transcriptions for two pianos four hands, again performed on original Erard Grand Pianos from the period by that eminent duo Julian Reynolds & Peter Lockwood. This time we have included also transcriptions of ballet music written for insertion into opera (Gounod's Faust) and again some original compositions that take operatic themes as their base, such as the brilliant (and at times just a bit vulgar) Concert Piece on themes from Verdi's II Trovatore by Claude Melnotte and Liszt's Reminiscences of Mozart's Don Giovanni, where famous themes from this great opera are woven into a composition of great virtuosity and musical beauty.
