Consort Songs and Instrumental Music

A beautiful collection of 16th and 17th century Consort Songs, with the superb coun-tertenor David Cordier as soloist, accompanied by the four gambas of the Royal Consort, whose solo CD with the three and four part Fantazias by Henry Purcell (GLO 5132) was received with such praise. In addition to these lovely songs there is also a wealth of instrumental music by Byrd and Gibbons, also performed on the original four (and occasionally five) gamba's as indicated by the composers themselves.
