String Quartets 1 & 2

In between recordings for the complete Shostakovich string quartets, the members of the Rubio String Quartet have professed their love for the string quartets of Johannes Brahms with these very intense performances of the composer's first two quartets (he only wrote three!). These magnificent works belong to the core of the Rubio's concert performances and they have played them all over the world to great acclaim. And although these works are well-known as a title, the total amount of CD recordings is far less than one would assume on the basis of their reputation. So there is always room for one more, especially when the performances (and recording!) are as good as presented here!
