Lieder Recital

Suze van Grootel's first solo CD on Globe (Songs by Poulenc, GLO 5178) met with great critical success from reviewers in, among others, France and the United States. She also features on a great many CDs with Camerata Trajectina, the renowned Dutch ensemble that specialises in 16th and 17th century music from the Netherlands. This new CD, with a selection of well-known and also lesser known Lieder by the great Richard Strauss, once again shows Miss van Grootel's versatility in no uncertain way. Not only is she a great interpreter, but she is also a mistress of a great diversity of styles. It is also a CD to commemorate the fact that on 8 September it was fifty years ago that Richard Strauss died, a fact that has gone by almost unnoticed in the internationa! music world.
