Lieder Recital

An absolutely delightful program of songs by Mendelssohn, including all the "war horses" such as Auf Flügeln des Gesanges, plus a number of Lieder which are not as well known, but unjustly so. Soprano Suze van Grootel, with her beautiful voice and great interpretative insights, gives absolutely enchanting performances which go the very heart of the songs. Her regular accompanist Kees Schul distinguishes himself once more as a first class accompanist. The use of an original Erard piano from 1842 (the same instrument the composer possessed) adds the extra touch of authenticity which we, at Globe, like to present in order to distinguish ourselves.
