• An absolutely unique collection of songs by Dutch composers, most of them on French texts with the exception of Andriessen's famous Magna res est amor and the impressive Four Songs on Poems by Eua Pound by Robert Heppener.
-
This is the area in which Dutch composers from this century have excelled and each song very clearly demonstrates the special talent Dutch composers have for the genre.
-
Full information about the songs and the performers can be found on the back of this info sheet, where we have reprinted the back of the CD in full.
-
The original recordings were made some years ago, but they have been digitally re-mastered for this generous re-issue on CD.
-
In the booklet a very informative article about the composers and the works (in English, French, German and Dutch) written by Leo Samama, as well as the full texts of all the songs.
Most of the soloists on this CD are world-famous, such as the great soprano Elly Ameling, one of the leading song interpreters of this century, and also baritone Max van Egmond as well as soprano Roberta Alexander, while all the others also belong to the top of their profession. Among the accompanists are such illustrious names as Dalton Baldwin, Rudolf Jansen and organist Albert de Klerk.
