Bruckner : String Quintet, Ronde, Intermezzo

This is the re-issue in the 6000 series of Globe GLO 5078 which was deleted from the catalogue about a year ago. There have, however, ever since been requests by our distributors from all over the world for this CD, so we decided to bring it back, which also gave us the opportunity to provide it with a more attractive cover. Apart from the excellent and at the time of its first release already highly praised performances by the renowned Raphael Quartet, this CD is also important because it contains the only major chamber music work ever written by Bruckner which is at the same time one of the finest works in this field, the String Quintet in F major. The Intermezzo for string quintet was composed by Bruckner as an alternative second movement in place ofthe Scherzo. The little Rondo that opens the CD was written when the composer was 38 years old and "learning how to write for string quartet".
