- Although one can never be absolutely sure these days with the enormous output of CDs on the international market, this is, as far we have been able to ascertain, the very first recording of Schubert's most important works for four hand piano on a period instrument!

- The instrument used for this recording is an original Fortepiano from around 1825, built by Friedrich Hoxa in Vienna, nowadays owned by Edwin Beunk who has restored this beautiful instrument back to prime condition.

- The repertoire comprises some or Schubert's major works for four hand piano, including the unequalled Fantasy in f minor and the equally unique Theme and Variations in Ab Major.

- In the light of the still growing interest in authentic performances on period instruments with the original performing practices such as the composers must have envisaged them, this is without doubt a major release and an important contribution to the catalogue.

- Leaving all historical and musicological arguments aside, it is also a recording to enjoy and cherish because of its outstanding interpretations of some of the most beautiful keyboard music ever written!

Wyneke Jordnns and Leo van Doeselaar both studied with Jan Wijn at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, from where they graduated in 1981 to embark on highly successful careers, Leo van Doeselaar organist and pianist and also together as a now internationally famous piano duo. They performed as such all over the world, are nowadays both professors at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and are also regularly invited to give recitals and master classes in the main international festivals on modern piano as well as on the fortepiano, the latter after profound studies with Malcolm Hilson and Jos van lmmerseel. Their recordings for Etcetera on the modern grand piano (produced and recorded by Klaas Posthuma) have been highly successful all over the world. This is their first recording on an original Fortepiauo, with repertoire that is nearest and dearest to their musical hearts.
