• This recording first appeared on CBS in 1982 and has now been released on CD at the special request of a great many baroque specialists who justly consider these performances as 'legendary' and have assured us that they should once more become available on CD.
• Telemann is of course considered to be the most important of Bach's and Handel's contemporaries and the recorder was one of his favourite instruments, so much so that be himself encouraged recorder players to 'borrow' from the flute repertory which is what Walter van Hauwe has done with some works in this programme.
• His 'accompanists', Bob von Asperen and Wouter Möller, are among the best-known and highest respected baroque interpreters of todays musical world.
• The three Fantasies in this programme are for solo recorder and come from the very famous set of 12 Fantasies, which Telemann wrote in Hamburg, 1732-33.
• The recording is ADD, but this will absolutely be no hindrance for this CD to find its way into the collection of every baroque and Telemann lover all over the world.
